On a beach walk one morning in Langkawi, I came across this incredible ghost crab sitting calmly on the shore. I ran to get my camera and spent 15 minutes photographing him, as he got hit by the tiny waves. The series has gone viral online, and I feel so thankful that I’ve been able to introduce so many people to this cool little creature. I hope this print can add character and personality to your space!

Story:
It was a beautiful, peaceful morning in Samburu when we came across this cheetah mama and her 3 cubs… We could see that there was a huge termite mound up ahead, so we patiently waited to see if she would approach it. Cheetahs often climb up on these termite mounds so that they can easily survey their surroundings, and she did exactly that! Her three cubs were playing around the base, chasing each other, biting each other’s tails, and then eventually climbed up to join her… It was special beyond belief, I don’t have any words to express it! A spotty family portrait.

Story:
Seeing a leopard with its kill in a tree is one of the most searched for encounters on an African safari… On this particular morning, we watched a female leopard (Luluka) in a tree, knowing that her son Olomunyak was nearby. We waited patiently, and after 30 minutes or so, he climbed the tree and started to devour this bushbuck for about 45 minutes. He was dragging it from branch to branch, giving us the most INCREDIBLE show. So unbelievably lucky!

Otters have made such a special comeback in Singapore after being considered locally extinct in the 1960s due to pollution and habitat loss. Now they are back thriving in the urban environment and have become an icon of the city — a major conservation success story! So on my 2-day stopover, I made it my mission to try and find them... After 2 full days of searching and nearly 40km of walking, I finally came across a family that was nesting in the heart of the city… An incredibly special moment that I’ll treasure forever!

It was a beautiful, still morning in Lake Nakuru National Park when we came across these 2 zebras grooming each other under a huge acacia tree. Photographing animals under isolated trees is a huge love of mine, so this scene immediately caught my attention and became a focus for me and my workshop group. There’s something special about the misty background, the lush vegetation, and the calmness of the scene… It’s a new fave for sure!

On a beautiful morning in Kenya, we came across this glorious hippo wandering across the savanna, grazing in the cool air. Hippos are super sensitive to the sun, spending most of their time in the water to protect their skin, only coming out at night to graze. They are unique creatures in every way, and there’s something super special about seeing them out of water in all their porous, chubby glory!

After an incredible full-day safari in the Maasai Mara, we were heading back to camp when we came across a hyena den. Our wonderful guide knew there were cubs inside, so we waited patiently, and after a few moments they all started to emerge. One by one they began to appear, giving us one of the most incredible wildlife encounters I’ve had to date. It was just us amongst a clan of hyenas as they were nursing, playing, bringing us their bones, sniffing around our cars and showing us their weird and wonderful behaviours. Special doesn’t even begin to describe it!

On one of our morning game drives at Losokwan Camp, we came across a lion pride (3 lionesses and 5 cubs) resting in the warmth of the rising sun. We sat with them for hours; watching and observing as they went about their day. I quickly noticed that this powerful lioness had a lightning scar under her eye (like Harry Potter) and I was truly encapsulated by her... A powerful warrior.

Taken on a family holiday along the Great Ocean Road, this juvenile King Parrot landed on our balcony and posed patiently while I captured his beauty. King Parrots are the birds that will forever remind me of home, hence why this is one of my personal favourite images... He was a true king.

There’s nothing quite like an African sunset… This was one of the most special evening game drives from my Kenya Wildlife Photography Workshop — it was so beautiful to just spend time in nature, watching animals wander in front of the setting sun with nowhere else to be. I’ll remember this day forever!

As the sun was slowly heading towards the horizon, we came across this lone elephant bull in the middle of Kruger National Park. There wasn't another animal in sight, and we sat for a long while observing this elephant as he rested his head against the trunk of the tree while a small oxpecker danced above his head. It was one of my favourite moments to capture, and an even bigger honour to observe. A true moment of connection; the elephant and the tree.

The Cairns Esplanade is a birding hotspot, and this day was no exception! It was the very last stop of my FNQ Wildlife Photography Workshop, and we happened to find this beautiful Rose-crowned Fruit Dove resting in a beautiful tree at eye level. A special encounter with one of Australia’s most colourful birds!
